Solala

Solola is not located directly on Lago de Atitlan, but it serves as an important center of commerce for the area.

It’s a town of approximately 60,000 people, located about 5 miles to the north of the lake and Panajachel, and sitting significantly higher in elevation.

It traditionally served as a trading place for vendors from the Pacific area, meeting those from the Highlands.

Still to this day, the town hosts an authentic market on Tuesdays and Fridays that is well worth a visit.
